Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and it's time to figure out the perfect gift for my perfect girl. The question is, where to start and what should my budget be? Well according to a new survey, 19% of people plan to give Jewelry. But I'm not sure if my girlfriend really would want any of that! Just kidding, I mean what women wouldn't love a bracelet or ring?
The problem is the budget though. Any type of jewelry can tend to be expensive. So we are back to step 1! So, what do I go with and spend? Well Americans will spend over $19.6 billion on the Valentines Day holiday buying jewelry, candy, chocolate covered strawberries, stuffed animals, and all kinda crazy things! The average American last year spent $136.57 on the day, while this year they will spend even more. Last year I spent a total of $0.00 on the holiday, but this year I hope to spend a little more as well!
For 2018, folks will spend $143.56 on Valentine's day on average. That includes gifts, dinners and so-on. But when it comes to the day, just remember it's not about what you spend or buy, but what it really means. I mean anyone with a credit card or a wallet can go buy a bracelet or dozen roses. But when you go a little bit above and beyond and find something perfect, it means a whole lot more. It even means a whole lot more when you get her those flowers on a random Tuesday after work, instead of just on a holiday. Or maybe a home cooked meal on Thursday Night, instead of just on that holiday.
My Valentine's Day will be a little different this year and a little more challenging due to a little distance, but I'm going to figure something great out to make it amazing. In the end, I don't care if I spend $3.00 or $300.00, I just want it to be memorable and a great day! Luckily, I still have 13 more days to plan!
What do you get your spouse or other half for Valentine's Day? And how much do you spend?
